A call to action…

MUUS & Company’s dedicated climate investment arm invests across the capital stack of decarbonization and industrial efficiency. Michael and his family have been allocating philanthropic, political, and investment capital to climate-related activities for over 30 years, and in the 1980’s, Michael was among the earliest investors in renewable energy. He helped launch the solar lighting and solar signaling companies Solar Outdoor Lighting (SOL) and publicly traded Carmanah Technologies, chairing Carmanah and merging the two companies before exiting in 2017.

Growing concern about climate change compelled MUUS to launch a dedicated practice in 2016 to invest in, support, facilitate, and accelerate the decarbonization of our planet alongside adaptation strategies. We embrace our responsibility to preserve a livable climate, and we seek to generate returns that attract further investment in this thesis. We envision an accelerating transition to more sustainable thinking, practices, and technologies, which are necessary for a productive economy, thriving environment, and stable society.

The Goldman-Sonnenfeldt Foundation, the family’s philanthropic arm, has also led major environmental initiatives, focused on accelerating adoption of solutions and influencing policies that will help preserve a livable climate.

Our Climate Portfolio

“We began, in earnest, building our climate portfolio over a decade ago, because advancing climate solutions is the work we are called to do, and represents the investment opportunity of a lifetime.”
